Our client is looking for a professional to lead their accounting and finance team. This role reports to the President.
Responsibilities:
Direct and manage the Company's accounting and reporting functions including the year-end review, tax compliance and regulatory compliance requirements across all companies (Canada and US)
Provide accurate and timely financial information to the senior leadership team - Mostly job costing reports
Responsible for all aspects of financial reporting including consolidation
Oversees the annual close process and seeks ways improve the timeliness and accuracy of the close process
Maintain the Accounting system and General Ledger in accordance with ASPE
Maintain the Accounting system's currency management process in accordance with company policy
Manage the external Review related activities including coordination of the annual Review
Manage the ongoing banking activities including covenant compliance
Maintain documented system of Accounting Policies and Procedures and update as required
Establishes and monitors internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
Supervise and provides leadership to the corporate accounting department (AR, AP, HR and Payroll)
Build out the team (will need to add a financial analyst)
Support ownership to ensure company is in compliance with all Federal, Provincial and State tax requirements
Responsible for Payroll and Payroll tax compliance
Maintain the Company's accounting system and implement changes as required
Work collaboratively across the organization to achieve team and company goals
Qualifications:
CPA
University business degree
7+ years of relevant accounting and finance experience with 5+ years in a leadership role
Experience in construction industry would be an asset
