Job Description

We are looking for a designated CPA to join a successful logistics and distribution business as the Controller, Operations. This organization has been based out of the Lower Mainland for many years and has a strong reputation for the distribution of high-quality, brand-recognized grocery products. As the business continues to grow and volumes massively increase, they are looking to build out their accounting team by adding another Controller to the mix. Reporting to the General Manager and President, and working closely with the Controller of another business unit, the Controller, Operations would hold responsibility for significant business process improvements, systems upgrades and implementations, development of management reporting and forecasting, and the development of KPI tracking in order to improve business decision-making. Additionally, this individual will participate in:

- Monthly/quarterly/annual financial statement preparation

- Budgeting, forecasting, and planning

- Variance analysis and ad hoc management reporting

- Cost controls and tracking as related to shipping and transit costs

- Participation in product pricing and sales analysis

- Significant treasury functions and foreign currency management

Requirements

As the ideal candidate, you are an engaging, communicative, and flexible accountant who can bring energy, financial acumen, structure, and process to a flourishing organization. You understand how to build a financial framework that allows a business to grow and scale seamlessly.

Along with a designation, you would ideally bring:

- An understanding of the logistics, transportation, and distribution industries

- Some exposure to COGS

- Strong excel and general systems skills

- A leadership mindset

- 5+ years of experience as a Controller / Finance Manager or head of an accounting department

As a note, this position could be based out of either a Burnaby or Annacis Island office.
