Job Description

Buffalo Rail & Infrastructure, in partnership with Torq Transloading, is constructing an industry leading rail-to-truck transload terminal in Taylor, British Columbia, located just 15 minutes from Fort Saint John. The facility will handle high-volume frac-sand logistics through automated, high-capacity storage domes and advanced truck-loading systems engineered for reliability, safety, and efficiency. As part of our first-phase commissioning, we're hiring motivated, safety-minded professionals to help launch a modern, efficient, and growth-focused operation.

Control Room Operator / Utility - Taylor Transload Terminal

Full-time, working a rotating shift including days and nights (12 hour workdays, 8 on/4 off), safety-sensitive, with planned hire dates in January and February 2026

Control Room Operator / Utility

--a key developmental position designed to build your skills toward becoming a Senior Control Room Operator.

In this hybrid control-room and field role, you'll help manage automated loadout systems, support truck dispatching and staging, assist with maintenance and permitting, and jump in with yard and rail operations when needed. Every shift brings variety, teamwork, and opportunities to learn.

Key Responsibilities



Monitor and operate automated SCADA (HMI) systems for dome storage, conveyors, and truck loading. Manage driver check-in, staging, and dispatch through loadout and scale systems. Coordinate with rail and yard operators to align unloading with bin levels and loading demand. Perform safe-work permit preparation, field verification, and isolation tagging as directed. Troubleshoot process and alarm conditions; escalate to Senior CRO or maintenance when necessary. Conduct digital inspections and enter work notifications into CMMS. Operate small equipment (skid steer, forklift, front-end loader, utility truck, Backpack blower) for cleanup or material movement. Maintain effective two-way radio communication and SCADA (HMI) / kiosk interface with yard crews and drivers. Support site housekeeping, dust control, and environmental compliance activities. Participate in training of new staff and cross-train in yard and rail tasks. Champion Buffalo Rail / TORQ Transloading safety standards and continuous improvement. Other duties as required.

Qualifications



Grade 12 or equivalent; technical or trades training an asset. 2-4 years of experience in plant, terminal, or industrial operations. Familiarity with SCADA (HMI) and CMMS systems. Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn process flow, conveyors, and dome systems. Equipment operation experience (skid steer, forklift, front-end loader) preferred. Strong multitasking and communication skills; disciplined use of two-way radio. Must pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing, eRailSafe clearance, and physical-demands test. Valid Class 5 licence. Capable of performing outdoor work in all weather conditions.
