Buffalo Rail & Infrastructure, in partnership with Torq Transloading, is constructing an industry leading rail-to-truck transload terminal in Taylor, British Columbia, located just 15 minutes from Fort Saint John. The facility will handle high-volume frac-sand logistics through automated, high-capacity storage domes and advanced truck-loading systems engineered for reliability, safety, and efficiency. As part of our first-phase commissioning, we're hiring motivated, safety-minded professionals to help launch a modern, efficient, and growth-focused operation.

Full-time, working a rotating shift including days and nights (12 hour workdays, 8 on/4 off), safety-sensitive, with planned hire dates in January and February 2026

role is your entry point into a dynamic, fast-paced terminal environment where every day brings learning, teamwork, and hands-on experience.

This position supports both yard and control-room operations, helping with railcar unloading, truck-loadout assistance, equipment operation, and general site maintenance. As you grow, you'll gain exposure to automated control systems, safe-work practices, and the fundamentals needed to progress into a Utility or Control Room Operator role.

Key Responsibilities



Assist with railcar positioning, unloading, and car door opening under supervision. Operate small equipment (skid steer, forklift, front-end loader, utility truck, backpack blower) for yard and site maintenance. Maintain track and switch areas: cleaning, snow/ice removal, lubrication, and reporting. Assist with dome and conveyor housekeeping, dust collection, and access preparation. Conduct digital safety and equipment inspections using tablet or handheld apps. Help marshal trucks and communicate with drivers during peak loadout periods. Learn basic operation of SCADA (HMI), loadout kiosks, and digital workflows. Participate in safe-work permits, FLHAs, and toolbox talks; uphold TORQ Transloading safety standards. Provide relief coverage for Control Room or Yard Utility positions as training progresses. Participate in continuous improvement, waste management, and environmental controls. Other duties as required.

Qualifications



Grade 12 or equivalent; post-secondary technical or trades training an asset. Mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial or rail operations. Experience in construction, mining, or logistics environments an asset. Basic equipment-operation skills (skid steer, forklift, front-end loader) preferred -- training available. Comfortable with tablets or computers; willing to learn SCADA (HMI), CMMS, and digital checklists. Must pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing, eRailSafe security clearance, and physical-demands test. Valid Class 5 licence. Capable of climbing stairs, working underground and performing outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Communicates effectively via two-way radio; follows safe-work discipline (no mobile phones permitted in Rail Operations). Demonstrates pride in workmanship and site housekeeping. Progresses steadily through structured training and skill development.

Compensation is competitive, with an annual range of $80,000 to $115,000, aligned with experience.
