Based in Brandon, Manitoba, we synthesize and blend nitrogen, phosphate, and sulfur products with ammonia, which we market primarily in the prairie provinces of Canada and the northern United States. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, we employ approximately 270 dedicated team members. Our fundamental commitment to safety, health, and environmental stewardship drives all our processes.

The Project Construction Manager will coordinate construction and installation activities associated with capital projects and large maintenance work that is being managed outside of the routine maintenance scheduling process.

What You Will Do In Your Role
  • Proactively Lead Project and field integration within the Project team, Plant operations, daily maintenance activities, Turnarounds, and potentially other projects
  • Act as a Construction Subject Matter Expert and SECORA team member throughout all Phases of the Project Process to implement best practices, safety in design, QA/QC specification requirements, stewardship, change management, risk identification and mitigation, and quantification of labor/equipment/materials for estimating.
  • Own Constructability by complying with its process and optimizing facets of construction (fabrication, installation, erection, logistics and maintainability) in design and execution
  • Communicate major construction events to the site throughout the Project lifecycle
  • Collaborate with other support roles to plan, prepare, and implement material, logistics, and equipment needs
  • Hold Project PM accountable for phase deliverables required as inputs to meet construction commitments
  • Engage in and promote Knowledge Sharing onsite and through partnering with other KAES sites
  • Initiate and champion innovation and improvements for competitive execution outcomes
  • Be responsible for the Construction Execution Plan as a basis for the construction estimate and challenge/vet estimates to drive competitiveness
  • Responsible for all aspects of Project Contractor Performance (ex. Safety, Quality, Compliance, culture practices) and reporting
  • Adhere to Provincial, other applicable regulations, codes, Koch practices including obtaining appropriate construction permits
  • Oversee field execution with a Stewardship focus
  • Develop project specific Construction Contractor strategies, support the project Construction Contractor selection team, and manage project Construction Contractor onboarding
  • Transfer field experience to Project Managers to promote growth within the Engineering and Reliability Teams
  • Practice and embody a Principle Based Management culture
Work and Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to access ladders and stairs at heights in excess of 100 feet
  • Must be available for and willing to do weekend work and travel (up to 10%), including air travel
  • Must be willing and able to work in outdoor work environments of all types of weather
The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in the construction and or construction oversight field, preferably in a chemical plant or similar setting.
  • Some understanding of project controls and construction management processes.
  • Willing to work as part of a team to accomplish overall company goals.
  • Able to collaborate with multiple team members to remove obstacles and meet milestones.
  • Experience with project execution, preparing project plans and working with contractors
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Applicable Red Seal Certificate or Operator certification
  • A degree in Construction Engineering or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience, for Construction management, or Project controls as an Owner
  • Experience working in a Chemical plant, understanding the compliance expectations required.
  • Familiar with codes, KAES standards and specifications for process piping, fixed equipment, rotating machinery, Instrumentation, Electrical, and Automation in chemical plant, as well as relevant drawings
  • Planning, estimating, and scheduling field construction activities
