Responsibilities of this position include:
Monitoring compliance with and enforcing Villa Roofing\xe2\x80\x99s Occupational Health and Safety Manual
Ensuring a safe working environment for all Villa Roofing employees
Raising awareness of health and safety issues and reporting on key issues
Promoting a culture of safety within the organization and on the job site
Reviewing and managing risk for workplace safety hazards
Collaborating with foreman, Field Managers, and Project Managers to ensure compliance with safety legislation and regulations
Liaising with and report to WorkSafe BC on health and safety matters
Facilitating Safety Committee meetings and Toolbox Meetings
Conducting safety inspections at Villa Roofing job sites
Carrying out safety corrective actions where necessary
Investigating and documenting complaints related to health and safety
Investigating and documenting workplace accidents, and report them to the President in a timely manner
Investigating and documenting workplace incidents or near-misses
Advising on and directing corrective actions for all incidents, accidents, or near-misses
Maintaining Villa Roofing\xe2\x80\x99s COR certification and participating in annual audits
Keeping detailed records of safety-related complaints, accidents, incidents, or near-misses, and liaise with the HR Manager to ensure documentation is recorded on the relevant employee\xe2\x80\x99s file
Maintaining and managing safety records and documentation
General management of safety administration
Conducting safety orientation and training for new employees
Providing training for current employees to update fall protection, confined space, WHMIS, and fit test certifications
The successful candidate will possess:
5+ years of experience in health and safety in the construction industry
CSO certification or equivalent
First Aid Level 2 certification
The following trainer certifications: fall protection, confined space, injury management, WHMIS, fit test
Approved COR Auditor status
Knowledge and understanding of B.C. occupational health and safety legislation and regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
High level of integrity and accountability
Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to manage difficult situations
Ability to read and interpret contract drawings an asset
