The MPP office of Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill is seeking a dedicated, hard-working and enthusiastic Constituency Assistant to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a direct impact in the community by supporting constituents, assisting with local initiatives, and contributing to the work of the elected official. Ideal for those passionate about public service and community engagement, this role provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced, meaningful environment while offering insight into the legislative process and the day-to-day operations of a constituency office.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Constituent Services & Casework
Respond to inquiries from constituents by phone, email, and in person.
Assist with the intake, tracking, and resolution of casework files.
Liaise with government ministries and agencies to help constituents access programs and services.
Provide information and resources in a professional, respectful, and compassionate manner.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
Support the planning and delivery of community events and outreach initiatives.
Assist in preparing materials and briefings for meetings with local organizations and stakeholders.
Represent the elected official at community events.
Communications & Administrative Support
Draft correspondence, briefing notes, scrolls, speeches, press releases, newsletters and digital content on behalf of the elected official.
Assist in the management of the office's website.
Maintain accurate digital databases, filing systems, and office records using Salesforce.
Provide general administrative support to the management team.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in administration, communications, political science, or a related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply).
Superior English proficiency, with demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and persuasively in both written and verbal formats.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
Familiarity with CRM databases (e.g., Salesforce) is an asset.
Working Conditions
Primarily office-based with travel within the region as required.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to support events is required.
