Duties may include:
As a Conservation Technician you will assist with the small marsh restoration program and maintenance program within the Maritimes. It will consist of completing impoundment inspections, site assessments, maintenance of impoundments, and aiding to restore wetland restoration projects.
This position, which will be based from our office in Charlottetown, PEI, involves physical work, heavy lifting and outdoor work in all weather conditions. Must have a passion for conservation and the outdoors.
Additional Details
- Available for work starting May 23rd for approximately 10 weeks, dependent on funding, with the possibility of an extension.
Requirements
- Returning post-secondary student in environmental science, wildlife conservation, biology, agrology, or engineering technology.
- Practical field skills, organizational skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French an asset).
- Knowledge of basic biology, local species, and ecosystems; GPS-based technologies; and Microsoft suite programs.
- Knowledge of WESP-AC; wetland delineation; and ArcGIS experience is an asset.
- Able to work independently or within a dynamic team environment.
- A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and the ability to use personal transportation (mileage provided).
- You are a self-motivated individual with a positive, \xe2\x80\x9ccan do\xe2\x80\x9d attitude, who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Salary: $18 per hour based on a 35-hour workweek.
