  • Assist in Habitat Condition Rating surveys and Habitat Management Plan preparation.
  • 1 student will focus on invasive plant mapping and trail inventory.
  • 1 student to focus on landcover mapping to verify/fix errors.







Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Ecology, Biology, Resource Conservation, GIS, or Natural Sciences.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online appilcations is required.

  • A valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, and no current charges or suspension pending is required.
  • Success in this position requires the ability to learn and apply knowledge of urban ecology, biodiversity, scientific inquiry to address urban park management and ecosystem health issues.
  • Working independently on projects and as part of the natural environment management team, you would be collecting, compiling and maintaining detailed information, developing maps and other spatial products for City and public use.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to focus for extended periods of time on data editing and quality management, and organizaitional skills are also important.


Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in school on a full-time basis with the intent to return to school full-time in the Fall of 2023.

  • Must obtain a City of Calgary operator\'s permit.

  • A security clearance will be conducted.

  • If invited to an interview, you will be asked to provide an unofficial transcript or an enrollment verification letter (indicating the program and year you are currently completing).





Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

Compensation: $26.63 per hour

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.




Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
