Position Summary:

Hatch is seeking an Urban Solutions student with interests in urban development, transportation, geography, planning and design, and economics for a 4-month internship starting January 2024

Reporting to the Director of Urban Solutions, Infrastructure, you will collaborate across global offices while working from our Mississauga location.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply relevant techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out assignments for urban solutions projects;
  • Directly apply and develop knowledge in various urban solutions areas including transportation and mobility, large-scale urban development, urban planning and design, forecasting and sustainability;
  • Contribute to overall needs for project work, from client acquisition to project completion;
  • Prepare calculations, submissions and other technical documents;
  • Improve technical communication and report writing skills;
  • Assist leadership, managers, and colleagues as and when needed.
Education and Experience:
  • Currently enrolled in Planning, Economics, Civil Engineering, Business, or Geography or relevant program from accredited university;
  • In good academic standing;
  • Interested in urban planning, infrastructure advisory, urban solutions, management consultancy, forecasting and strategic consultancy as a career;
  • Extracurricular involvement is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge or experience in a consultancy environment undertaking urban infrastructure projects will be an asset;
  • Passion for learning, challenges, and your field of study;
  • Interested in innovation, sustainability, infrastructure, and building great cities.

  • Good understanding of urban processes and business fundamentals as they apply to planning problems and projects;
  • Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges;
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrate critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and bring forward solutions for our clients\' toughest challenges;
