LOCATION: Behchok\xc3\xb2, Northwest Territories STATUS: Full-time, 2-year term CLOSING DATE: April 21st, 2023 OUTLINE & SCOPE OF POSITION: T\xc5\x82\xc4\xb1c\xcc\xa8h\xc7\xab Government is the steward of 39,000 km2 of T\xc5\x82\xc4\xb1c\xcc\xa8h\xc7\xab lands, as well as traditional trails, cultural use areas, and critical habitat within the larger M\xc7\xabwh\xc3\xac Gogha D\xc3\xa8 N\xc4\xb1\xc4\xb1\xcc\xa8t\xcc\xa8\xc5\x82\xc3\xa8\xc3\xa8 traditional territory. The Conservation Areas, Project Coordinator will work with conservation partners across the Northwest Territories, including other Indigenous Governments and Organizations, Territorial, and Federal Governments to conserve critical ecological and culturally sensitive areas. T\xc5\x82\xc4\xb1c\xcc\xa8h\xc7\xab people have strong cultural ties to the land, and ensuring responsible and sustainable environmental management is of utmost importance. Duties and Responsibilities: Working with a collaborative and dynamic team of scientists, Elders and community members, regulatory and research staff, the Conservation Areas, Project Coordinator is responsible for advancing and coordinating the T\xc5\x82\xc4\xb1c\xcc\xa8h\xc7\xab Government\xe2\x80\x99s conservation initiatives including protected area planning, project management, research and community engagement. EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A diploma or degree in a related area combined with field work experience and conservation planning, natural resource or equivalent environmental management and educational experience
  • Passion for protecting the environment, wildlife, and Indigenous well-being and way of life
  • Strong communication skills, experience with community engagement, and ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of partners
  • Strong project management skills
  • A strong understanding of land and resource management, including conservation initiatives, programs, and policies
  • familiarity with conducting technical reviews of conservation and protected area proposals
  • experience planning or working in Indigenous protected areas is an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months Salary: $95,000.00-$107,000.00 per year Benefits:
