We also support activities that bring African Nova Scotians together to network, share ideas and identify opportunities for development and growth.African Nova Scotian Affairs is a division of the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.The Land Titles Initiative is a program created to address the historical wrong whereby African Nova Scotian settlers were not granted clear legal documentation of land ownership, resulting in economic disadvantage for the African Nova Scotians who have descended from those settlers. The LTI resolves land title issues within the historic African Nova Scotian communities of East Preston, North Preston, Cherry Brook/Lake Loon, Lincolnville and Sunnyville in an accessible manner that respects their cultural traditions and practices.About Our OpportunityIn 1963, a legislative process was created to clear up land title and land ownership issues for residents who live in thirteen specific communities within Nova Scotia. The process allows residents in these Land Title Clarification Areas (LTCA) to give information to the government on how they (or those for whom they inherited or bought the land) have used and occupied the land. This position will be dedicated to the land title clarification areas of North Preston, East Preston, Cherry Brook, Lincolnville, and Sunnyville. As the Community Navigator you will be working in these communities, directly with residents in the land title clarification areas, to navigate the process to obtain clear title.The Community Navigator interacts with a variety of individuals including community members, stakeholders, lawyers, and government staff. You will invest in understanding the unique context of each individual community to support residents. The Community Navigator has tact and a high level of professionalism when communicating with various community stakeholders when navigating the land title process. As the Community Navigator your primary area of responsibility will include resident support to assist the Land Titles Initiative for residents who live in five specific communities within Nova Scotia.This position reports to the Manager, Land Titles Initiative.Primary AccountabilitiesAs the Community Navigator, you will provide support, direction, and leadership to African Nova Scotians throughout the Land Titles Initiative, you also:
