Hours of Work: Avg 36 hrs/week; Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (hours may vary some evenings & weekends are required), with every second Friday free from work.
Compensation: $54,000 annually, depending on experience, plus a generous leave, benefits and pension package
Program & Location: A combination of remote work and work in either our Gastown or South Surrey office (or both).

The successful candidate is responsible for implementing the strategic marketing, communication, social media, print media, and community engagement programs for Atira Women\xe2\x80\x99s Resource Society including all of our programs and projects. The primary goal of this position is to increase Atira\xe2\x80\x99s brand awareness, share our voice and ideas, and most importantly, promote our mission, vision, and values. Reporting to the Manager of communications, the specialist will work closely with the communications team to coordinate the day-to-day activities of our social media channels, including coordinating the workflow and publishing of social content to Atira\xe2\x80\x99s platforms. They will plan and execute a content calendar, creating graphics and videos, editing photos, copywriting, monitoring engagement (e.g. comments and shares), analyzing results, and developing monthly reports. While no two days will be exactly alike, the Social Media Specialist/Content Creator will learn, share and stay on top of social media best practices and develop creative ideas and innovative ways of delivering digital content. They will be responsible for video and photo editing to feed various digital materials and contribute to and work with relevant teams and stakeholders to implement the digital side of integrated social media campaigns They will visit Atira\xe2\x80\x99s various sites for photos and videos and support the communications and fund development team with general marketing duties to ensure the department performs smoothly. You are familiar with colonialism especially as it applies in Canada, and you understand the impact of the residential school system. You support women who choose abstinence but understand abstinence is just one option for women struggling with substance use. Your definition of a woman includes transgender, two-spirit and intersex women and transfeminine individuals. You are sex worker positive. You question actions inconsistent with our values and you treat everyone with fairness and respect independent of their status or disagreement with you. You expect great things from yourself and your co-workers. You inspire others with your passion for women\xe2\x80\x99s anti-violence work and your eagerness for excellence. You contribute to an environment where women can flourish and grow and you seek what is best for women, rather than what\xe2\x80\x99s best for you or your team. You challenge the status quo to improve quality and sustainability and you take smart risks and make tough decisions without agonizing. Qualifications:
A degree or diploma in journalism, marketing, advertising communications, public relations, or other relevant discipline and or a combination of relevant skill-based training plus two years of proven experience in building online communities, managing social media channels for business, print media, and marketing. Demonstrates creativity and documented immersion in Social Media (provide links to profiles as examples). Experience in a customer service role is an asset.

  • Covid-19 and annual flu vaccinations are required, unless with exemption
