Position Summary





The position of Regional Communications Generalist provides regional communications services, communications strategy development and implementation as well as advisory services in a collaborative approach with the provincial communications team, in part through a Community of Practice. The position reports directly to regional management, and works closely with the provincial team to ensure clarity in responsibilities and functions between the provincial and regional communications function. The position ensures that regional perspectives are reflected in all communications services while in alignment with FNHA policy, directives, standards, and practices, in sync with FNHA frameworks and strategies.

As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.

Responsibilities





1. Develops, implements, and reviews regional communications including, but not limited to, executive emails, speaking notes, memoranda, newsletters, bulletins, internal \xe2\x80\x98sound bites\xe2\x80\x99 for staff, public education materials, promotional materials, briefing materials, presentations, etc. including support to all staff meetings (specific functions may vary region to region)
2. Develops and implements internal regional communications for a wide variety of needs, including but not limited to regional events, Caucus meetings, and change and transformation initiatives
3. Undertakes activities related to mining and developing regional stories
4. Makes recommendations, from a regional lens and perspective, for improvements and additions to internal and external communications programs, services, and products. Provides regional input to FNHA-wide communications.
5. Provides communications support to regional teams in their relationships with communities, First Nation tables / organizations, Regional Health Authority, and other key partners.
6. Maintains the FNHA branding and writing standards through compliance and quality control for all print and online communications products in accordance with FNHA brand standards and consultation the FNHA provincial Communications team
7. Oversees communication activities, including goal setting, task and outcome planning, progress monitoring, identifying, and dealing with potential risks and ongoing issues, and other related tasks

Qualifications






Education & Experience
  • University Degree in Communications or Public Relations, and/or 3 to 4 years of Communications or Public Relations experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven track record for executing high quality communication plans and materials
  • Demonstrated experience working with BC First Nations Communities

  • Understanding of health-related issues in general and those affecting First Nation communities in particular
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a variety of situations and with various individuals and groups.
  • Ability to identify concerns, gauge gaps and recommend an optimal approach and build positive relationships.
  • Creative thinker who demonstrates initiative and flexibility to change, positively rising to challenges presented.
