Department Overview

The Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) department aims to inspire and connect our customers, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, deliver business outcomes and enhance our brand. We deliver best-in-class external and internal communications to help differentiate TD in the market and elevate our brand.

  • Seven or more years' experience in Diversity and Inclusion, journalism, or communications in a corporate or agency setting
  • Experience developing and executing innovative communications plans to effectively drive business objectives.
  • Proven experience providing communications advice and issues management to business partners and senior executives
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills and a passion for storytelling
  • Proven track record in both proactive and reactive media relations. Experience working with key journalists who cover business and/or D and I topics is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and timelines and navigate a complex organization
  • Experience in exercising judgment and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and in providing sound communication counsel to senior executives.
  • Resourceful and creative, with superior attention to detail and an ability to deliver high quality work under pressure.
  • An entrepreneurial and adaptable mindset, ability to solve problems creatively.
  • French language is an asset
  • Undergraduate degree or PR/marketing/corporate communications certification, designations, or equivalent required

We are looking for an experienced, professional communicator, who is passionate and knowledgeable about Diversity and Inclusion and has proven media relations, digital content development and writing skills. The successful candidate will execute comprehensive communications plans to support TD's Diversity and Inclusion story, helping to identify opportunities and partnering with colleagues across the Bank to help connect the dots and amplify insights.

The successful candidate will:
  • Work closely with senior leaders to develop proactive communications programs to support the Bank's D&I strategy, both internally and externally.
  • Be passionate about storytelling, especially in D&I communications, with exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Have strong media relationships and be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of both media relations tactics, and emerging D&I trends in order to tell TD's story in new and compelling ways.
  • Use the most appropriate storytelling tools to produce and deliver content to colleague and external audiences, leveraging traditional and social platforms that will help to influence stakeholders and drive engagement.
  • Have strong relationship skills and the ability to collaborate well with others and across teams to deliver creative and inspiring communications.
  • Be able to think outside the box, with an eye for uncovering the best stories, interest in what's happening in the world around them, and a desire to continually learn.
