Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) works to ensure that everyone affected by childhood cancer has access to the best care and support. We partner to achieve an excellent childhood cancer care system for children, youth, survivors, their families and healthcare teams in Ontario and beyond. POGO champions childhood cancer care, and as the collective voice of this community, is the official advisor to Ontario\'s Ministry of Health on children\'s cancer control and treatment. POGO is a non-profit organization with charitable status, here for kids with cancer, for now, for life.

Here\'s what you will do as Communications Coordinator:

The Communications Coordinator executes POGO\'s digital marketing strategy, creating impactful content, and working with the Communications Team to implement strategic plans. This role also conducts and/or supports program-specific communications and provides coordination, operational, and administrative support to POGO\'s communications function. The incumbent plays a key role in managing POGO\'s online presence, project and process monitoring, reporting, record-keeping and continuous improvement; internal and external committee coordination; information gathering and reporting; and is an information resource on specific topics, processes and initiatives. Daily this role will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to drive key content and manage the day-to-day execution of digital marketing communication programs across multiple platforms and formats. You will:
  • Inform and implement a digital marketing strategy to grow POGO\'s online presence and generate meaningful conversions in support of POGO\'s strategic objectives;
  • In collaboration with key internal stakeholders, ma nage POGO\'s online platforms-website and social media-including informing, tracking and reporting performance indicators; drafting & posting content; engaging with relevant online accounts;
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to create, implement and support strategies to increase familiarity of POGO and drive investment intent (nonmonetary and monetary);
  • Engage with POGO team members to understand, create and implement program-specific communications plans and initiatives:
  • Communications (i.e. web content, social media posts, communication materials like letters, briefs, reports, presentations, etc.)
  • Coordinate Initiatives, Internal/External Committees, Panels, and Working Groups (i.e. track project budget and milestones, data and information gathering, project related reporting, coordinate record keeping and logistics, etc.)
  • Data and Information Gathering (i.e. research, surveys, analysis, reporting and recommendations, etc.)
  • Record-Keeping (i.e. maintain electronic based filing systems and accurate and accessible documentation that meets regulatory requirements)
  • Serve as an informational resource for assigned tools, processes and initiatives
  • Follow organizational policies and procedures, including brand and style guides.
  • Coordinate email campaigns;
  • Conduct media monitoring and related activities;
  • Collaborate with external vendors ( i.e. seeking project estimates from printers, coordinating production of materials, etc.);
  • Maintain department contacts in contact management system, in accordance with Canada\'s Anti-Spam Legislation;
  • Mentor Program Assistants in communications activities.
Here\'s what you\'ll need to be successful as Communications Coordinator:
  • Post-secondary certificate, ideally focused on Digital Marketing, Communications or Public Relations;
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant experience in digital marketing, communications or public relations. Experience in the not-for-profit sector and with smaller organizations (50 and under) an asset;
  • Proven track record in creating and implementing a digital marketing and/or communications strategy;
  • Strong social media and branding skills with experience designing graphics;
  • In-depth understanding of social media platforms and ability to identify industry trends and opportunities;
  • Excellent writing and copyediting skills, with experience writing different types of content (i.e. blog posts, newsletters, web copy, social posts, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Professional. Intermediate to advanced reporting ability with Google Analytics and social media analytics. Proficiency with WordPress or other websit e co ntent management system and Canva. Proficiency with media monitoring platforms (i.e. Meltwater) an asset;
  • Able to think critically, including to interpret analytics against strategic objectives;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and an ability to meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly respond to changing priorities and to successfully meet d eadlines under pressure;
  • Excellent verbal communication, relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders and volunteers and work independently and as part of a collaborative team;
  • Skilled at presenting to internal and external audiences;
  • Experience in healthcare or not-for profit sector; working with childhood cancer patients, survivors and their families considered an asset;
  • Willingness to work outside of regular business hours and occasional travel locally as necessary;
  • Valid driver\'s license an asset.
