POSITION SUMMARY:

The ROM Communications Department seeks a dynamic Communications Coordinator to lead the charge in implementing cutting-edge initiatives showcasing a wide range of museum activities. From exhibitions and galleries to collections, programming, curatorial research, special events, and publications, you will be responsible for synchronizing and executing strategic communication campaigns that captivate and engage diverse audiences. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Manager, Publishing, you will:

  • Developing, writing, proofreading, and distributing communications and creative materials that showcase the museum\'s world-class exhibitions, collections, programming, and research.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and credibility of all communications by fact-checking details and adhering to strict quality control standards.
  • Auditing team tools and processes to streamline operations and maximize efficiency, ensuring that every communication campaign is executed flawlessly.
  • Facilitating media events and interview opportunities, building strong relationships with key influencers and ensuring that the museum\'s message is communicated effectively to a broad audience.
  • Collaborating on publishing initiatives, including museum-produced books and ROM magazine content, providing input on editorial direction and contributing to developing compelling and engaging content.
  • Attending to internal and external queries, demonstrating a customer-centric approach and providing exceptional service to all stakeholders.
  • Tracking and maintaining media results and databases, leveraging data to inform strategic decision-making and optimize future communication campaigns.
  • Actively participating in other communications and publishing projects as needed, providing critical support to the team and contributing to the overall success of the museum\'s communications program. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-year post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, journalism, publishing, or business/arts administration
  • 3 years of professional experience in communications or a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including creating content, proofreading, and fact-checking
  • Experience pitching and facilitating interviews and reviewing materials for external audiences
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet target dates, work under pressure, take the initiative, and thrive in a team environment
  • Experience in event planning or campaign launch preferred
  • Aptitude to maintain confidentiality and handle delicate matters with tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment
  • Solid knowledge of Office 365 required; experience with media-monitoring platforms, content management systems, Adobe Photoshop/InDesign, and French language skills are assets.

SALARY: $49,992 \xe2\x80\x93 $57,054

SCHEDULE: 35 hours

PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 6 months
