Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services Corporation is presently recruiting for a COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR Timmins, ON The Communications Coordinator, under the direction of the Legal Aid Manager is primarily responsible for working with the Public Legal Education Coordinator in developing resources for the LAS/DOJ project. The Communications Coordinator will develop a communications plan with communities and oversee the daily administration of the plan. This position will also draft, edit, communications and resource materials and will oversee the development, management, and maintenance of all online communication vehicles for Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services, including but not limited to Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services\xe2\x80\x99 website, email templates, and social media accounts. Qualifications:

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
  • Works well with others and handles direction and criticism in a positive manner.
  • Knowledge of the preparation of communications instruments
  • Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly and ensure they are clearly communicated to an audience.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive
  • Knowledge of the principles of effective communications and mass media, publicity, advertising, policies, education, community relations, demonstration, organization structure, social service, and government relations, as they relate to the organization.
  • Experience and knowledge of the legal system is an asset.
  • Experience working with NAN and in First Nation Communities
  • Excellent case and file management skills, administrative and coordination skills, stress management and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office equipment
  • Ability to speak Cree, Oji-Cree, Cree or Ojibway an asset.
