Who We Are

The Communications unit within Residence and Housing\'s main responsibility is to increase the profile and revenue of SFU Residence and Housing\xe2\x80\x99s portfolio (Residence Life, Guest Accommodation, Occupancy, Facilities, and Finance). The Communication unit achieves this through the development and management of communications, marketing and brand management strategic plans that align with University priorities and the vision and goals of the overall Residence and Housing portfolio. We are responsible for strategies that attract students and other key internal and external audiences to increase revenue and the profile of Residence and Housing by creating compelling student and guest recruitment campaigns, identify advertising streams, digital platforms (web and social media), media relations and issue management, events, and other marketing and communications initiatives.

About the Role

The Communications Associate participates in the development and implementation of communications and marketing strategies, plans and initiatives which aim to increase the profile and revenue of SFU Residence and Housing\xe2\x80\x99s
portfolio (Residence Life, Guest Accommodation, Occupancy, Facilities, and Finance). The Associate maintains all Residence and Housing websites; monitors social media and communications channels and participates in the daily
communications to residents. The Associate designs and creates marketing and communications collateral for SFU Residence and Housing and Guest Accommodations related initiatives and advertising; coordinates events; and
ensures that all collateral adheres to SFU\xe2\x80\x99s brand standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Communications, Marketing, or other relevant discipline and three years of related experience, including experience in website design and editing, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Good knowledge of current social media and online communication channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to write a variety of communications materials for print and web publication and to adapt writing style for various audiences.
  • Good knowledge of print and digital media, desktop publishing applications, web, wireless, and content-management technologies.
