This position works in the Digital Media organizational unit. This is specialized communications and marketing work in developing digital, social media and online campaigns, strategies and messages for the City of Burnaby. An incumbent plans and coordinates digital marketing campaigns and messages, develops the related online presence and recommends related courses of action to optimize user experience for website visitors and online engagement; provides guidance and advice to divisional staff engaged in digital, online and social media communications; maintains various website content management systems, troubleshoots issues and liaises with vendors and developers, reviews system enhancements to determine fit for the City. Applies online tools & metrics to analyze the effectiveness of campaigns, and prepares information, analyses and related recommendations; assists divisions with updating website and online information; monitors user feedback, responds and provides guidance and advice to others on responses. Performs related work as required.


Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or a related discipline plus considerable related experience or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Considerable knowledge of the marketing and communications principles, practices, methods and techniques related to the work performed; of digital, online and social media practices and related available technology. Experience in developing and planning marketing and communications strategies and messages. Experience in administering website content management systems (CMS) for multiple websites; experience with Drupal CMS & Digital Assets Manager (DAM) and Acquia is preferred. Experience with administering mobile applications is considered an asset. Ability to write copy and edit a variety of materials including images and videos, and to research, collect and compile information on a variety of subjects; to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Proficiency in using social media management, email marketing and online survey software.


This is a Temporary Full time position until December 31, 2026.
