An exciting opportunity to join CAMH's Public Affairs team and help grow awareness of 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline, Canada's national three-digit suicide prevention service.
Led by CAMH in partnership with other service delivery organizations and technology partners, 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline is a national helpline for anyone in Canada who is thinking about suicide, or who is worried about someone they know. Support is available by phone and by text, in English and French, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. 9-8-8 calls and texts are answered by trained responders at a network of local, provincial, territorial, and national crisis lines and helplines across the country.
Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager with oversight by the Senior Advisor, Partnership Marketing and working closely with members of the 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline team, the full-time, contract (9 months) Communications and Marketing Coordinator will support progress against 9-8-8's strategic marketing and communications goals, to grow awareness of and build trust in the 9-8-8 service.
This role will contribute to the implementation of the 9-8-8 communications and marketing strategy, with a focus on paid advertising and partnership marketing. They will coordinate with marketing and advertising agencies to support the successful planning and execution of 9-8-8 advertising campaigns, and help facilitate partnership opportunities that will raise the profile of the service.
The post-holder will be day-to-day point of contact with 9-8-8's creative and media planning agency partner(s), booking meetings, coordinating feedback, sourcing materials and information for the agencies as required, and helping to ensure that key deadlines are met. They will coordinate incoming speaking and partnership requests, tracking the status of enquiries, following up with the appropriate staff members, and reporting on the outcome of each enquiry. They will support 9-8-8 colleagues to attend presentations and speaking opportunities on 9-8-8 across the country by creating presentations and coordinating on logistics.
This person will also create campaign-specific content for 9-8-8's social media channels and the 9-8-8 website, as well as undertaking other communications and marketing duties as required.

  • A University/pots-secondary degree in Communications, Journalism, Media, Marketing, Public Affairs or a related area
  • 3-5 years professional experience in marketing, advertising, PR, and communications or a related role.
  • Exceptional organizational skills: the ability to manage competing priorities, keep clear records and track the status of key projects.
  • Demonstrable relationship building skills: a high level of professionalism when interacting with people both internally and externally, proven ability to respond to enquiries and requests in a timely manner.
  • Experience in collaborating and maintaining good relationships with a variety of internal and external partners and interest holders.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a clear and accessible written style.
  • Time management skills, ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with vendors and contractors to ensure the production of high-quality work.
  • Ability to be consultative and work sensitively with people with a range of backgrounds and experiences, including people with lived experience of mental illness and suicide.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is required, functional communication in languages beyond French and English is an asset.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, the mental health and suicide prevention sectors and bilingualism (French/ English) are also assets.
  • The post-holder must reside outside of the GTA.
