Closing Date: Until FilledDiabetes Action Canada is seeking a dynamic communications professional with strong writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills. This role requires editorial judgment and the ability to craft compelling content for various communication channels, including the website, intranet, video platforms, and social media, while ensuring timely delivery.The successful candidate will play a key role in building and engaging Diabetes Action Canada's researcher and Patient Partner community through event coordination, online promotion, social media management, and brand development. Additionally, this position will support the Patient Engagement Program under the direction of the Manager, Research Planning, as needed.As part of this role, the incumbent may also represent Diabetes Action Canada on committees where communications and engagement expertise would be beneficial.Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in content creation, editorial work, or communications, preferably in a healthcare, research, or nonprofit setting.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor content for various platforms, including websites, social media, and lay audience publications.
  • Proficiency in managing and creating content for social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, BlueSky, etc.).
  • Ability to design branded content templates to maintain consistency across communication channels.
  • Experience in developing and implementing communication plans to engage diverse audiences.
  • Basic graphic design skills, including experience using Canva or similar tools to create accessible and visually engaging content
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support relationship-building with Patient Partners, researchers, and other stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with best practices in knowledge translation and communicating research findings to lay audiences.
  • Experience planning and executing events, workshops, and engagement sessions, including logistics, scheduling, and promotion.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a research-focused organization.
