Reporting to the Lead Hand or Shop Supervisor the CNC Operator is a skilled and detail-oriented positions requiring hands on and detail-oriented position. This position is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining CNC equipment to produce precision components according to engineering specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate HAAS CNC machines (mills and/or lathers) to produce rail components to exact specifications
Interpret technical drawings, blueprints and CAD/CAM Files.
Load raw materials and ensure proper alignment and secure clamping
Monitor machine operations and adjust as needed to maintain quality and efficiency
Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime
Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) to ensure they meet quality standards
Perform routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot issues as they arise
Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety and quality standards
Document productions data and complete job logs accurately
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g. Mastercam, Fusion 360)
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
Familiar with G-Code and programming HAAS control systems is an asset
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Familiarity with quality control and inspections tools
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Job Requirements:
Highschool diploma or equivalent technical certification or apprenticeship in machining of CNC operation preferred
1 years or more of experience operating HAAS CNC Machines
Ability to work variable evening/ night shifts
Reliable transportation to work
Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
Work Environment:
Industrial Shop setting- PPE required
Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and night shifts
Loud environment, repetitive movements, bending lifting to 50 lbs, interacting with machinery
Standing for extended periods of time
