As a Toronto-based Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role in AXA XL\'s claims for multiple lines of business, including Casualty and Professional. Expect to work closely with your manager and fellow Claims colleagues to drive files to resolution and to interact and collaborate frequently with Underwriting teams. Together, you will be tasked with achieving the best possible outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively.

  • Providing thoughtful and comprehensive coverage analysis on all new matters and acting as a resource to our underwriting team for wording and account reviews.

  • Providing timely direction to independent adjusters in the investigation of claims for certain lines of business. Collaborating and building consensus with policy co-subscribers as appropriate.

  • Utilizing experience and information obtained to evaluate financial exposures. Negotiating appropriate and timely resolutions on assigned claims across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Partnering with internal and external counsel in setting and pursuing effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation. Active participation in mediations and settlement conferences as appropriate.

  • Coordinating and managing communication with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Underwriting, brokers, reinsurers, external vendors, etc.) to ensure the highest level of customer service. Participation in new account and renewal meetings as required.

  • Consulting with and reporting to Claims Management and Claims Legal, as warranted, on large losses and contentious coverage matters. Ensuring all steps are taken to achieve the best outcome.

  • Maintaining file notes, preparing internal reporting, timely reserving, issuing payments, and setting of electronic file diary are in accordance with best practices guidelines.

  • Identifying, monitoring, and reporting on emerging trends within the insurance industry and legislative changes.

  • Moderate experience handling litigation claims for Casualty and/or Professional lines of business.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of typical Commercial General Liability (CGL) and Errors and Omission (E&O) policy wordings.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or comparable degree.
  • Obtained or working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation preferred.
  • Superior customer service oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized; ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple responsibilities.
  • Very collaborative and works well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
