We have an excellent opportunity in our Global Corporate & Specialty (GCS) Claims team. We are looking for a Senior Claims Specialist to investigate, evaluate and settle complex PD liability files along with some BI, Commercial General Liability Casualty and possibly some E&O, D&O and US claims with claimants or their representatives

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:


  • Support GCS Value Proposition every day and with every interaction by providing excellent customer and stakeholder communication on claim matters

  • Provide superior customer service to our clients and partners

  • Ability to handle a varied pending, including files in both pre-litigation and litigation as well as out-of-province claims.

  • High level of comfort dealing directly with key clients and broker on all claim related issues and other assistance as required

  • Interpret and confirm insurance coverage using background knowledge of relevant case law combined with a thorough understanding of policy wordings

  • Ensure file reserves are set on a timely and accurate basis, in line with company protocols

  • Maintain control over expenses through pro-active handling techniques

  • Review and analyse Third Party Adjuster other external reports to ensure proper disposition of claims with view to manage costs and provide exceptional customer service;

  • Provide instructions to vendors and TPA\xe2\x80\x99s to adjust claims;

  • Ensure vendors and TPA\xe2\x80\x99s adhere to company policies and procedures;

  • Understand and adhere to Aviva\xe2\x80\x99s claim procedures and guidelines

  • Ability to communicate and work well with other departments within Aviva

  • Expert understanding of the claims experience while understanding the technical strategic direction for the claims file

  • Look for new and incremental ways to improve things every day for the customer

  • Clear understanding of financial elements of our claims function to ensure we remain financially strong and deliver year on year improvement in our business performance

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the financial information captured in Aviva systems

  • Develop an appreciation for the insured\xe2\x80\x99s business/ business model in order to provide best in class customer service

  • Identify and report on any suspicions of fraud or financial irregularities in line with existing Aviva procedures

  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer journey, the claims handling processes and financial outcomes for our business


What you\xe2\x80\x99ll bring:

  • CIP or FCIP Industry designation preferred

  • University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Casualty technical work experience

  • 7 + years previous claims experience;

  • 5 + years of Commercial Claims; with a strong knowledge of more complex Casualty PD liability claims

  • Exposure to US claims/ E&O/ D&0 claims an asset

  • Technical competence in Commercial insurance

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Computer proficiency; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, ClaimCenter

  • Sound decision making and problem solving skills
