Our professional liability claims handlers are tasked with resolving and settling claims proactively in order to achieve positive outcomes.

As a Senior Claims Specialist, in the Bermuda Professional Lines claims team, you will play a critical role in managing and resolving claims under various primary and excess professional liability policies, which include Directors & Officers (\xe2\x80\x9cD&O\xe2\x80\x9d); Errors & Omissions (\xe2\x80\x9cE&O\xe2\x80\x9d); Cyber Liability (\xe2\x80\x9cCyber\xe2\x80\x9d); Employment Practices Liability (\xe2\x80\x9cEPL\xe2\x80\x9d); and Wage and Hour (\xe2\x80\x9cW&H\xe2\x80\x9d). You will collaborate with your manager and claims management to bring claims to resolution. You will interact and collaborate with practice leaders, our professional lines underwriters, actuaries, reinsurers, ceded reinsurance department, brokers, and clients on assigned accounts, taking ownership of critical issues relating to claims management.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

\xc2\xb7 Proactively manage assigned claims across multiple lines of business, including initial analysis, drafting of appropriate coverage response and implementation of resolution strategy.

\xc2\xb7 Actively support and operate with a prominent level of collaboration with key stakeholders (internal/external) and claims management to achieve the best outcome for the client and AXA XL. This to include communications with internal colleagues (e.g., underwriting, actuarial, ceded reinsurance, finance, legal and other business partners) and key external stakeholders (e.g., clients, brokers, reinsurers etc.).

\xc2\xb7 Partnering with claims management in effective and cost-efficient management of counsel in the handling of large and/or complex claims consistent with AXA XL litigation management best practices. This will include internal reporting to support best practices and reserving guidelines.

\xc2\xb7 Managing coverage disputes, including mediation and arbitration.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain accurate and current documentation on claim files, ensuring adherence to the Claims Handling Principles and other protocols.

\xc2\xb7 Identify, monitor, and report on emerging risks and trends.

\xc2\xb7 Assist underwriting with policy review, help coordinate lessons learned, and identify trends that will improve risk assessment and underwriting processes.

\xc2\xb7 Partnering with Distribution and Underwriting to ensure a holistic and structured approach to Client Engagement.

\xc2\xb7 Assist with the training and development of claims staff.

You will report to VP, Head of Professional Lines Claims, Bermuda.

Required Skills and Abilities:

\xc2\xb7 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree from an accredited college/university; law degree preferred.

\xc2\xb7 Minimum 5 years of law and/or insurance experience preferably with a working knowledge in professional liability.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to timely manage assigned claims across multiple lines of the professional liability business. Approach tasks proactively and prioritize multiple workstreams, while maintaining quality.

\xc2\xb7 Robust analytical and technical skills to manage complex and difficult claims. Sound judgment skills. The ability to interpret legal contracts is necessary.

\xc2\xb7 Ability to collaborate with claims management on large and complex losses. Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with all colleagues, including insureds, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, and legal counsel. Willingness to seek input from others, as needed, to achieve the best result possible for the client and AXA XL.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the highest level of customer service.

\xc2\xb7 Handle responsibilities with integrity and to the highest standards of professionalism.

\xc2\xb7 Eager to learn and ability to focus on continuously improving technical skills and AXA XL claims capabilities.

\xc2\xb7 Focus on the claims value proposition at all points in the claims experience, delivering on our promise to our clients.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

\xc2\xb7 Outstanding data and analytics skills will be an asset. Proficiency in advanced Microsoft suite products desirable.
