As a Toronto-based Long-Haul Trucking Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role in AXA XL's claims for the Commercial Auto team. Expect to work closely with your manager and fellow Claims colleagues to drive files to resolution and to interact and collaborate frequently with Underwriting teams. Together, you will be tasked with achieving the best possible outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively.

Responsibilities include:

  • Handle moderate to complex Commercial Auto Physical Damage Claims and Third-Party Property damage claims including Long-Haul Trucking and Cargo, Fleet and Non-Owned Auto policies.
  • Assessing coverage and preparing relevant correspondence to communicate to brokers and insureds when applicable.
  • Providing instructions and hold accountable independent adjusters and TPA's as required.
  • Evaluate liability exposure along with salvage and subrogation potential.
  • Experience in loss transfer and accident benefits.
  • Maintaining file notes, preparing internal reporting, timely reserving, issuing payments, and setting of electronic file diary in accordance with best practices guidelines
  • Coordinating and managing communication with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Underwriting, brokers, reinsurers, external vendors, etc.) to ensure the highest level of customer service. Participation in new account and renewal meetings may be required.
  • Consulting with Claims Management, as warranted, on Large Losses and ensuring all steps are taken to achieve the best outcome.
  • Identifying, monitoring and reporting on emerging trends in the insurance industry and legislative changes.
Qualifications

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-10+ years of experience in handling Long-Haul Trucking and Commercial Auto Physical Damage (APD) claims.
  • Thorough knowledge of Statutory Automobile Policies across all Canadian jurisdictions.
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable degree.
  • Obtained or working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation preferred.
  • Superior customer service oriented.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized; ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple responsibilities.
  • Very collaborative and works well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
