We are looking for a Claims Manager to join our team in our Montreal office! As a Claims manager, you will be responsible to report to the Vice President, Claims \xe2\x80\x93 Eastern Region and work closely with lawyers, underwriters and adjusters to conduct analysis of claims and coverage and recommend solutions to coverage issues. You will also oversee a team of 18 claims specialists and manage the day-to day operations of one of the largest commercial insurance claims departments in Quebec. Your day as a Claims Manager
  • Conduct analysis of claims and coverage and recommend solutions to coverage issues.
  • Provide technical expertise to internal and external clients regarding claims coverage.
  • Negotiate payments and reimbursements with the insurers on the client\xe2\x80\x99s behalf.
  • Update the client on the status of the claim as required.
  • Ensure that the Client Executive is up to date on the current claims status of the account.
  • Enter and maintain current and accurate information in EPIC.
  • Maintain current and accurate files and documentation for each claim.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with adjusters, insurers and related trades and suppliers.
  • Identify any client or system issues that may arise to the appropriate individuals.
  • Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Develop claims management reports and distribute reports to management and/or clients as required.
  • Develop and distribute claim notification reports identifying major losses, trends or frequency for management and/or clients.
  • Mentor and support the Claims team with problem files and difficult situations.
  • Participate in presentations to clients and prospective clients and/or Associations.

Our ideal candidate
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in claims handling.
  • Strong insurance background and excellent knowledge of coverages.
  • Customer focused and service oriented.
  • Attention to detail and precise.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Good command of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, \xe2\x80\xa6)
  • A legal background is an asset
