Read on to see how you can shape the future, win as a team, and grow with us. About the role We are looking for a Property Unit Claims Manager to join our Property team in the West!
As a Property Unit Claims Manager you will lead and motivate a high performing team of property claims professionals. You will play an essential role by maintaining a legendary customer-focused approach while advising on solutions for internal and external sources. You will provide technical expertise and leadership to ensure efficient work processes are achieved. This opportunity can be based in any of these locations: Calgary/Edmonton//Vancouver/Victoria
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do here:

  • Provide leadership and manage the operations of the Claims Unit to achieve key business goals including communicating corporate vision, and values
  • Drive results by implementing appropriate performance expectations and management through effectively coaching and mentoring employees
  • Develop and recommend organizational initiatives to support company strategies including changes to process or technology improvements
  • Play a key and active role in the selection process and hiring of employees who will deliver a legendary level of service
  • Audit staff files and provide feedback and/or training as determined. When required, establish controls based on audit findings.
  • Act in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters such as: liability determination, policy interpretation and settlement negotiation to help resolve claims-related issues
  • Provide effective leadership by continuously keeping staff informed of changes or new directions and share responsibility for the overall productivity and engagement of team members
  • Communicate with other claims experts on technical and administrative issues
  • Maintain a respectful and productive business relationship with vendors, service providers, legal firms and internal client groups
  • Ensure that corporate policies, claims standards, and procedures are being followed

What you bring to the table:
  • Minimum 3 years of corporate management experience or 3 years of progressive P&C insurance experience
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to motivate, coach, and engage staff
  • Demonstration of the Leadership Success Factors
  • Technical knowledge in claims is an asset
  • Excellent analytical skills to deal with policy, legal and regulatory interpretation and implementation
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff
  • Commitment toward ongoing self-development (i.e. CIP participation)
  • Flexibility with working hours
