Child Care Worker Team Lead

Job Description

Heritage Family Services is currently hiring an experienced Team Lead Worker for one of our programs in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. This is a full-time position with a 3 on - 3 off schedule, working 12-hour shifts.

We are looking for someone who is authentic, responsible, organized, and service-oriented. The ideal candidate will be known for their strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with youth in care using a trauma-informed approach.

Key Responsibilities:



Build and maintain trusting, respectful relationships with youth.

Support a secure and emotionally stable environment by following safety procedures and discouraging unauthorized absences.

Lead each shift by providing guidance, coaching, and support to clients and team members.

Deliver consistent, youth-focused daily routines and programming.

Participate in meal preparation and other day-to-day care duties.

Celebrate and encourage the development of each youth's identity and self-esteem.

Advocate for the needs of each youth, including connecting them with external supports when needed.

Create a nurturing and supportive atmosphere that responds to the youth's emotional needs.

Assist youth in developing key life skills, including emotional regulation and social development.

Qualifications:



A Diploma in Human Services (minimum two years) and at least three years of experience working directly with children or youth.

Must be 18 years or older.

A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, Child Intervention Check, Class 5 Driver's License, and a Driver's Abstract (with fewer than 6 demerits) are required.

Strong knowledge of therapeutic care practices, especially the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) model.

Understanding of child development, trauma, grief, and loss.

Awareness and respect for Indigenous traditions and the importance of culturally appropriate care.

Comfortable working with people from diverse communities, backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations, with knowledge of inclusive terminology and pronouns.

Ability to work effectively across cultures and with individuals from marginalized backgrounds.

Mandatory Requirements:

A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months

A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months

Proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver's License

A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months

Copy of education listed in resume.
