Job Description

Heritage Family Services is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Lead Worker to join our team in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. This is a full-time position with a rotating schedule of 3 days on 3 days off, working 12-hour shifts.

We're looking for someone who is often described as genuine, dependable, organized, and outgoing--someone who brings strong interpersonal skills and approaches care through a trauma-informed perspective. You should have a natural ability to build healthy and supportive relationships with children and youth in care.

Key Responsibilities:

Build and maintain trusting, respectful relationships with children and youth

Promote safety and security within the home, following policies and protocols

Provide leadership during your shift, offering guidance and support to staff and youth

Participate in daily routines and youth-focused activities

Assist with meal preparation and daily household responsibilities

Encourage a positive self-image and identity for youth

Advocate for youth, ensuring their voices are heard and respected

Create a supportive and nurturing atmosphere that aligns with each youth's emotional needs

Teach and reinforce essential life and coping skills, including emotional regulation, social thinking, and problem-solving

Qualifications:

Minimum two-year diploma in Human Services (or related field)

At least three years' experience working with children or youth

Must be 18 years or older

Required: Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, Child Intervention Record Check, Class 5 Driver's License, and Driver's Abstract (less than 6 demerits)

Strong understanding of therapeutic models such as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)

Knowledge of child development, trauma, grief, and culturally responsive care

Awareness and respect for Indigenous cultures and traditional practices

Commitment to diversity and inclusion, with an understanding of gender identity, sexual orientation, and inclusive language

Ability to work cross-culturally and build connections with individuals from marginalized backgrounds

Mandatory Requirements:

A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months

A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months

Proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver's License

A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months

Copy of education listed in resume.
