Job Description

Heritage Family Services is hiring Full-Time Child and Youth Care Workers for our Stabilization and Secure Program in Red Deer. We're looking for passionate, dependable, and trauma-informed individuals who are motivated to make a positive impact on the lives of children and youth in care.

What You'll Do:



As a Child and Youth Care Worker, your responsibilities will include:

Building meaningful, trusting relationships with youth while respecting individuality

Ensuring a safe and secure setting, following established protocols to maintain emotional and physical safety

Supporting daily routines and creating youth-centered programming

Assisting with meal prep and other daily living tasks

Encouraging youth identity, self-esteem, and personal growth

Advocating for youth and supporting access to external services like the Child and Youth Advocate

Providing emotional support tailored to the youth's current needs

Teaching life skills including emotional regulation, problem-solving, and social interaction

Who We're Looking For:



The ideal candidate will be:

18 years of age or older

Enrolled in or graduated from a post-secondary program in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Human Services, or a related field (certificate, diploma, or degree)

Knowledgeable and respectful of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and the importance of culturally appropriate care

Comfortable working with diverse backgrounds, identities, and communities with inclusive and affirming practices

Skilled in cross-cultural communication and experienced with marginalized populations

A strong team player with excellent interpersonal and crisis response skills

Requirements:



Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector

Child Intervention Check

Proof of vaccination status

Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract

Mandatory Requirements:

If you are selected as the successful candidate, you will be required to provide the following documents as a condition of employment upon receiving the job offer

A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months

A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months

Proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver's License

A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months

Copy of education listed in resume.
