Heritage Family Services is seeking a passionate and experienced Team Lead Worker to join our dedicated team in Red Deer, Alberta. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, dependable, and skilled in supporting children and youth through a trauma-informed approach.

About the Role



As a Team Lead, you will play a vital part in guiding day-to-day care in our youth programs. You'll build trusting relationships, support youth development, and lead other staff members during your shift. Your focus will be on creating a stable, supportive, and safe environment for children and youth in care.

Key Responsibilities



Build and maintain respectful, trust-based relationships with youth

Ensure a safe setting by following security procedures and minimizing anxiety for youth

Lead shifts, providing coaching, direction, and mentorship to team members

Facilitate daily routines and youth-focused programming

Help with meal planning and preparation

Support youth in developing self-awareness and self-esteem

Act as an advocate for youth, ensuring access to the Child and Youth Advocate office

Offer emotional support and foster a nurturing atmosphere

Guide youth in learning life skills, emotional regulation, and healthy social interaction

What We're Looking For



A Human Services diploma (minimum 2 years) and at least 3 years' experience working with children or youth in care

Must be 18 years or older

Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, Child Intervention Check, valid Class 5 Driver's License, and a clean Driver's Abstract (fewer than 6 demerits)

Strong background in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) or similar therapeutic models

Knowledge of child development, trauma, grief, and loss

Understanding and respect for Indigenous traditions and cultural practices

A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including knowledge of gender identity and pronoun use

Excellent communication skills, particularly with individuals from marginalized or culturally diverse backgrounds

Mandatory Requirements:

If you are selected as the successful candidate, you will be required to provide the following documents as a condition of employment upon receiving the job offer

A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months

A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months

Proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver's License

A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months

Copy of education listed in resume.
