Child Care Worker (team Lead Live In)

Job Description

Heritage Family Services is currently hiring a Team Lead Child and Youth Care Worker for a 48-hour live-in shift at our Rocky Mountain House, Alberta location.

We're seeking a compassionate, reliable, and service-driven professional who is known for being genuine, well-organized, and able to connect with others. The successful candidate will bring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build healthy relationships with youth through a trauma-informed care approach.

Key Responsibilities:



Build and maintain trusting, respectful relationships with youth

Ensure a safe and secure environment by following established safety and security protocols

Provide shift leadership, guidance, and coaching to both clients and team members

Support the daily routines and implement youth-focused programs

Assist with meal preparation and household tasks

Encourage and support the development of youth self-esteem and identity

Act as an advocate for youth, ensuring access to support services including the Child and Youth Advocate

Offer a nurturing, emotionally responsive environment tailored to each youth's needs

Teach and support life skills such as emotional regulation, social problem-solving, and cognitive development

Requirements:



Diploma (minimum two years) in Human Services or related field, plus at least 3 years of experience in youth care

Must be at least 18 years old

Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) model

Knowledge of child development, attachment theory, and impacts of trauma/loss

Commitment to culturally respectful care, including understanding Indigenous traditions and beliefs

Comfortable working with diverse populations, identities, and experiences

Valid Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector), Child Intervention Check, and Driver's Abstract required

Must be able to live on-site for 48-hour shifts

Mandatory Requirements:

If you are selected as the successful candidate, you will be required to provide the following documents as a condition of employment upon receiving the job offer

A Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector) that is dated within the last 6 months

A Child Intervention Check that is dated within the last 6 months

Proof of eligibility to work in Canada

Class 5 Alberta Government Issued Driver's License

A Driver's Abstract that is dated within the last 6 months

Copy of education listed in resume.
