Knix is seeking a highly motivated Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will help propel Knix into the next phase of growth. The CFO will serve as a member of the Leadership Team and report directly to the Founder & Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Knix will continue to operate as an independent and stand-alone business. The CFO will be integral in owning the transition of Knix's partnership with Essity while executing the business plan to maximize enterprise value. Navigating the complexities of becoming part of a public company, taking advantage of the larger support structure while keeping the Knix culture is the challenge for the CFO. The CFO will combine corporate company practices with entrepreneurial decision making to achieve the Company’s objectives.

The CFO will partner with the full executive team to expand sales channels, increase geographic distribution, improve gross margin and profitability, and set financial and operational targets. This includes full ownership of the budget and forecasting cycle, internal and external reporting and communication of results to stakeholders. The CFO will lead the financial management strategy to support and accelerate the Company’s short and long-term goals.

The successful candidate will be a growth-focused business leader with experience in high-growth e-commerce, retail, manufacturing or consumer goods industries and an understanding of omni channel, inventory management and diverse business channels. The Knix team will continue to grow and scale, so experience in operational, IT and finance investments to support this scaling is required. Knowledge of IFRS, consolidated reporting, and audit is necessary.


This role will be appealing to finance executives who have proven experience leading transformational change and implementing best practice solutions post acquisitions.

The scope of the Finance team includes Financial Planning, Financial Reporting, Accounting and Accounts Payable. The Finance team includes a staff of 10, including a Senior Director of Finance and Director of Financial Planning and Analysis as direct reports to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analysis requirements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage treasury functions, including bank relationships and intercompany corporate debt, with multi-period forward cash flow forecasting.
  • Lead the communication process of all financial results comprising commentary, analysis, and performance against metrics, including presentation to the Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
  • Expand the financial analysis capabilities of the finance team with partners in the Company to improve timely and relevant performance metrics.
  • Review and refine financial models, identify KPIs to measure the financial health and performance of the Company.


  • Financial Management and Operations
  • Lead, monitor, and update budgeting and multi-year forecasting across all departments, coaching department leads and ensuring that spending is generating ROI.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses to determine which key drivers influence performance and generate results.
  • Evaluate and upgrade existing finance infrastructure, including optimization of Netsuite and support the Business Intelligence data warehouse implementation.


  • Capital Access and Management
  • Develop models, presentation decks and customized analysis to support capital requests.
  • Accountable for the efficient capital deployment for inventory purchasing, working with the Chief Operating Officer to achieve inventory turnover and investment metrics.
  • Optimize and increase financial resources as operations scale to support the Company’s growth objectives.


  • Profitability and Business Health
  • Oversee gross margin and profitability metrics and work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure that monthly targets are being met, and course corrections are taking place in a timely manner.
  • Create and strengthen internal control procedures across the Company, including system or platform implementations.
  • Identify opportunities for business and financial improvement, and lead task force groups to execute and implement solutions.
  • Lead business case analysis for new launches and large-scale initiatives.


  • Legal, People and Risk Management
  • Oversee all legal and risk management functions for the Company, including general corporate risk, IP protection, IT risk, etc.
  • Partner closely with the Chief People Officer to evaluate and determine employee benefits, and total rewards options, including vetting and outlining Long Term Incentive programs and bonus plans.
  • Identify risks, create controls and implement risk mitigation plans and measures.
  • Support the sourcing of appropriate legal support with requisite expertise when required.
  • Manage the Company’s insurance portfolio and identify opportunities for other protection mechanisms.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, ideally working within a mid-sized or large organization. Prior CFO experience is required.
  • A solid understanding of how a product-based business operates globally, including inventory, costing, supply chain, and international sales.
  • Knowledge of US sales and income tax requirements.
  • Experience with cross-border and international operations is preferred (transfer pricing, tax structuring, and multi-jurisdictional requirements).
  • Understanding of IFRS and public company accounting process, including consolidation entries and disclosure requirements.
  • Proven experience in Board communications and managing relationships with audit firms and financial institutions.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills to execute time-sensitive deliverables and effectively manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization to provide a financial view to their function and responsibilities.
  • A confident leader with a high level of integrity and dependability; has a strong sense of urgency and is results-oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills; comfortable leading presentations to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience utilizing financial systems and improving the financial reporting process in your current organization. Previous experience with Netsuite is considered an asset.
  • Entrepreneurial and able to navigate in a fast-moving environment.
  • A CPA and/or an MBA is considered an asset.
