Our expectations
Reporting to the Director, Accounting and Compliance, the Manager, Accounting - Compensation will provide accounting leadership by supporting business stakeholders and their own accounting team. This role relates specifically to the accounting of compensation and benefits (salaries, benefits [employee insurance plans, vacation, holidays and sick leave], workers\' compensation, bonuses, term, social charges and other items) and covers all business segments (stores, distribution centers and administrative functions).
Your role
Lead a team of analysts responsible for ensuring that accounting best practices are implemented and followed, and that financial results are recorded accurately, timely and completely.
Oversee the financial close, reporting and analysis of the period.
Analyze financial results to ensure amounts are properly accounted for and reported, including identifying dependencies and relationships to identify potential misstatements, and ensuring appropriate performance drivers have been communicated and supported by explanations of discrepancies.
Identify corporate initiatives that may have compensation accounting implications and coordinate with relevant business partners to provide financial guidance and ensure the implementation of effective and accurate accounting processes and controls.
Analyze accounting issues to determine the appropriate course of action.
Actively participate in the development of the annual budget and the periodic forecasting process
The qualifications we are looking for
Bachelor\'s degree in administration, finance or accounting
CPA designation
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in an accounting or financial analysis role
A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience with direct report responsibility
Experience with financial systems such as TM1, HFM or Khalix (an asset).
Team player
Self-motivated, results-oriented with a focus on delivering high quality work.
Very strong analytical skills
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and multi-stakeholder collaboration skills
Ability to work under pressure and deliver results with tight deadlines.
Advanced skills with Excel
