AWMAC Southern Alberta (www.awmac.com) is looking to hire a part time woodwork inspector to relieve and cover current inspectors. This is a contract position with casual/part time hours, hybrid of work from home and on site. You must have an appropriate home office set-up with computer, printer etc. and be able to travel to site in Southern Alberta as required.
The ideal candidate would be someone who is retired and still looking for part-time employment as this job is best suited for someone who has multiple years of experience in the architectural woodwork/cabinet making industry and a knowledge of AWMAC Standards/NAAWS manual.

Maintains quality standards by inspecting architectural woodwork projects to verify compliance with the North American Architectural Woodwork Standards manual.
Overview of Inspector Job Duties:
- Administration; set up new job files and schedule site inspections, complete reports and logs, input data into electronic file's
- Site Inspections
Education Requirements:
- Journeyman Cabinetmaker or equivalent cabinetmaking experience
Availability:
- Must be available during regular business hours (Site inspections take place during the day)
- Must be available during the winter months to cover other inspectors on leave
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of AWMAC Standards/NAAWS manual
- Must be knowledgeable of building construction in general
- Must be knowledgeable of architectural woodwork in particular
- Must know how to read plans, specifications, and shop drawings
- Must be competent in the use of word processing software and electronic mail
- Must be very organized, meticulous and have excellent time management skills
- Must be able to produce concise, comprehensive and well written reports
- Must be available to perform inspections in a timely manner
- Must be physically able to perform job-site inspections
- Must be impartial and not in conflict with the work being inspected
- Must be aware of and abide by site specific safety requirements
Compensation: Inspectors are contracted as independent consultants to the Chapter on a per-project basis. Inspectors work on a set Chapter fee involving a set hourly rate, travel time, vehicle mileage allowance and reimbursements for relevant out-of-pocket expenses. As an independent consultant, the inspector is liable for all government taxes. AWMAC covers WCB & Liability Insurance. Wage is negotiable and will be based on experience, for example, current AWMAC GIS Inspector wages are: Interim/Training - $35/hour Certified - $45/hour.
