The incumbent will provide casework management services in accordance with National standards set out by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. You will be responsible for matching volunteer mentors with children/youth, and to monitor those matches to ensure the healthy development of these mentoring relationships.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage intake of children and youth including interviewing, needs assessment, orientation, pre-match safety training and matching
- Provide matching support activities and follow ups during evenings
- Maintain match case notes
- Assist with events/fundraisers as required
Key Attributes and Skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with diverse backgrounds demonstrating compassion and empathy
Knowledge of the West Island community an asset
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritize workload
Solid understanding of available community resources in health, social services and education
Experience working in a non-profit or charity organization an asset
Team oriented
Self-starter, ability to problem-solve, and to be a critical thinker
Requirements
Bilingual in French and English
Proficiency in the use of computers in MS Office applications
Post-secondary degree or equivalent in a human relations/recreational therapy related field and preferably a minimum of two years relevant experience
Maintains high ethical standards and unwavering dedication to the well-being of children and families
Must have a valid driver's license, as well as a vehicle (mileage accrued paid by Agency)
Ability to work flexible hours when required
Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
