The role of Housing Case Worker is to support clients with instrumental activities of daily living and developing goal-oriented plans. The Housing Case Worker will help identify social activities for clients as well as opportunities to volunteer or engage in other meaningful activities. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of the clients in the program by working collaboratively with their support systems to encourage client independence, community engagement and housing stability.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




Connecting with clients on an on-going basis to assist in securing permanent, long-term housing. Build rapport with clients to support achievement of goals identified in their goal plans. Connecting with clients on an on-going basis to ensure that their daily needs are met. Provide an open and welcoming environment for clients to share their housing concerns and address clients housing needs. Connecting with clients on an on-going basis to assist in building skills of daily living. Collaborating with internal Mustard Seed services to ensure the client receives wrap around supports. Wellness checks to be conducted every 24 hours; or as required; Provide first aid as needed. Documenting client interactions, referrals, progress and any change in behaviour. Completing incident reports and daily logs in a timely manner. Welcoming and supporting volunteers and students. Conducting security rounds once per hour. Bring forward identified client risks or issues to supervisor and colleagues to identify action plan. Support Property Management, Advocates, and Clinicians as needed. Hosting events and groups; Engaging in intentional interactions with clients to build rapport and foster community. Contributing to the development and implementation of new groups as assigned. Supporting the Recovery Supervisor as needed. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS




Diploma or an undergraduate degree in related field. Minimum of 1 year of experience working with marginalized individuals. Strong communication skills and ability to work within a cross-functional team. The ability to interact with a variety of individuals. Strong administrative and computer skills. Conflict resolution skills and ability to manage residents in crisis situations. A passion to be part of ending homelessness in Alberta. Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality of client information and adherence to privacy policies and procedures. Valid Driver's License (Class 5) including a clean driving abstract

WORKING CONDITIONS




As The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry, we require our employees sign an agreement indicating that they will respect and not detract from our Statement of Faith. The role involves, lifting, standing, and walking as necessary to perform job responsibilities effectively. Travel is required to attend client appointments and accompany clients to recreational or community-based activities. Successful completion of essential job functions will require moderate physical exertion. The position requires moderate to high mental effort to carry out essential job functions, including providing information, resolving discrepancies, and responding to highly intense situations.

Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:




Fixed-term employees have access to a $200 health spending account.
