Help ignite the potential in people! The YMCA of Cape Breton is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Case Manager/Workshop Facilitator. This is a dual role supporting our Nova Scotia Works Employment Services Centre Sydney.
Job Purpose
The YMCA of Cape Breton Nova Scotia Works (NSW) Employment Services Centres offer an integrated bundle of employment services to help Nova Scotians understand, prepare for and meet the needs of the provincial labour market. Additionally, we provide services to support employers in recruiting, managing and developing the talent they require to be more productive in the global economy.
The
Case Manager
(60% of role) is responsible for assessing an individual's employment needs and career goals. They work with these individuals in a collaborative, client-driven process to develop a mutually agreed upon return-to-work action plan (RTWAP). The actions of a Case Manager must address the specific needs of the client as documented in their goals. The Case Manager must support accountability by organizing service delivery that is appropriate, coordinated, and timely to address client needs and desired outcomes. It is paramount that Case Managers demonstrate cultural competence and embrace inclusive practices, creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
The
Workshop Facilitator
(40% of role) enables group learning sessions designed to lead and enhance employment related knowledge and acquisition. They use Adult Learning Principles to tailor group activities towards meeting specific career-life planning needs for diverse client groups.
Duties and Responsibilities
In support of our mandate, team and clients, the Case Manager/Workshop Facilitator will:
Conduct client needs assessment, using varied assessment tools;
Identify strengths and barriers to employment;
Remain abreast of funding programs, community organizations, service providers and referral agencies;
Develop a RTWAP plan to address barriers to employment;
Maintain client files in web-based application while complying with privacy protocols;
Actively participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings;
Deliver information sessions and conduct employment related workshops, as required;
Liaise with other agencies on behalf of Nova Scotia Works, participating in committees, projects or activities, when appropriate;
Monitor and evaluate RTWAP - adjust as needed;
Provide follow-up and continued support;
Participate in program and service development that is responsive to the evolving needs of clients - ensuring maximum effectiveness and efficiency, and;
Educate and develop participant skills by facilitating workshops on a range of topics including effective job search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation, networking, life skills, employability skills, etc;
Implement instruction techniques that are suitable for a variety of leaning styles while maintaining sensitivity to the diverse needs and abilities of participants;
Learn and apply new technology to better support the learner and maximize reach and access;
Must be willing to cross train and assume other duties, as required
Qualifications
Bilingualism and previous case management experience considered an asset;
Degree or post-secondary education in Human Services field or related field of study or a combination of education and work-related experience;
Advanced Microsoft Office skills - experience working with cloud computing considered an asset;
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines and tasks;
Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment in the handling of confidential information;
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in the resolution of issues, process improvement and evaluation;
High level of initiative is needed to work independently and respond to unanticipated items;
Committed to professional development and career self-management;
Strong communication and presentation skills - experience facilitating considered an asset, and;
Schedule flexibility to accommodate variations outside of regular business hours, as needed.
Experience delivering workshops, designing workshop material and presentations
Travel is required.
Note:
Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/ Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check. They will also be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training
