The Hamilton-Wentworth Chapter of Native Women's Inc.is currently accepting applications for the position of

Journey to Wellness Cultural Facilitator.


Duties:



The

Journey to Wellness Cultural Facilitator,

under the direction of the Executive Director, will develop and implement cultural programs for the organization. The programs developed will support physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, and life skills for women, youth and children seeking to increase cultural connection and enhance skill development for successful housing stability and healing from trauma.

Responsibilities:



Provide effective programming to clients accessing our programs, which includes:

Engage with clients in a respectful, non-judgmental and supportive way that helps to improve their health and well-being, develop life skills, increase their sense of belonging, and build resilience. Complete program development, planning, implementation and facilitation. This will also include any workshops and/or conferences. Provide crisis intervention, when required. Develop and monitor safety plans, revise when required. Perform light cleaning, laundry and cooking duties, as required. Ensure that all services provided are client centered and trauma informed. Ensure that all services provided are incorporating Indigenous culture as a way of being and knowing in the organization. Work from a Harm Reduction and Strength-Based Approach. Connect clients with appropriate community resources, based on client needs. Participate in case conference(s)/review(s) and all relevant case management meetings. Incorporate Indigenous culture as a way of being and knowing in the organization; Attend relevant training, conferences and professional development, as required. Collect, maintain, and complete all client service evaluations. Collect, maintain, and complete all statistical data reporting on a monthly, quarterly and year end basis.

Qualifications Required



Post-secondary diploma/degree in social work, social service work, child and youth studies or related field that includes: Knowledge of and experience working with a range of issues impacting youth, women and children including homelessness, violence against women and children, human trafficking, poverty, mental health and substance use. Demonstrates cultural competency including awareness, knowledge and understanding of the impacts of colonialism and systemic issues. Experience working in a shelter/communal environment and completing intakes, safety plans, case notes, incident reports, plans of care, etc. is an asset. Case management experience and knowledge of various community resources to support people with diverse needs achieve their goals. Demonstrate professionalism and excellent communication skills, particularly in the areas of negotiation, facilitation, mediation, and advocating. Experience with program development, implementation and evaluation. Strong critical thinking and decision making skills. Knowledge of de-escalation techniques, harm reduction, and crisis management. Intermediate computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office Programming. Experience performing light cleaning, laundry, and cooking duties. First Aid / CPR /AED Certification Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification (NVCPI) ASIST Certification Food Handlers Certification

SALARY:

$25.00/hr

: 40 hours per week
