Cafe Assistant

Job Description

The Cafe Assistant will help with the day-to-day foodservice operation at McMaster Innovation Park (MIP) with emphasis on providing a quality guest experience. Reporting to the Cafe Supervisor, this position will also work in collaboration with the Conference & Hospitality Manager to provide catering for events held within the park.

This is a part-time position, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm weekdays, and catering events typically during the weekdays and early evening weeknights.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:



Collaborate with the Cafe Supervisor to develop and adjust Cafe menu offerings to provide guests with a diverse selection of items. Organize supplies and food inventory as required to maintain effective workflow and cafe operation. Prepare daily food items for the cafe such as baking muffins, preparing sandwiches, etc. Complete paperwork such as monthly inventory reports to help track the profitability of the cafe. Ensure all cafe areas are clean, tidy, and in compliance with Hamilton Public Health Food Safety Standards. Nurture positive relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost MIP's brand reputation. Preform daily cash transactions using a point-of-sale system. Help create a catering menu for the Conference Facility and tenants of the park to improve revenue of the cafe. Assist during catering events at the park Assist with receiving and executing any catering orders including preparation, delivery, cleanup and billing. Other duties as assigned

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:



High School Diploma 5+ years of food service experience required Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of programs is an asset Food Handlers Certificate an asset) Smart Service Certificate (an asset) First Aid Certificate (an asset) WHMIS Excellent communication skills and exceptional team player. Highly ethical and able to uphold MIP's high level of professionalism and always adhere to MIP's policies and procedures. Flexible, open to new challenges, and able to handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
