Our Team:

Ontario Operational Services provides vital services to the Ontario Operations, and is composed of the Transportation, Divisional Shops, Construction and Field Services, Copper Cliff Central Lab and Surface Learning and Development. Members of this team work across different locations to ensure effectiveness in providing the services required to maximize the sustainable value of the assets of Ontario Operations.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Business Support Superintendent to join Ontario Operational Services in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.

The incumbent will work collaboratively with other Process Superintendents, Managers and Supervisors within the functional and cross functional areas of the operation. The Business Support Superintendent will support plant management with their goals and objectives by implementing and optimizing divisional initiatives and business processes. The role leads plant improvement initiatives and project work. This role leads the Plant Administrators and VPS/CI support roles at the site. This role is viewed as a development role for the Manager Position.

In this role you will:

  • Develop, coordinate and execute external and plant wide initiatives (safety, standards, communications, environment, HR, surveys, audits)
  • Manage plant improvement initiatives and business case development
  • Participate with Operations Finance Partner in defining plant business value drivers and budget
  • Provide leadership to the Plant Administrative Support(s) and optimize plant admin functions.
  • Additionally, you will lead Vale Production System (VPS) and Continuous Improvement (CI) support person(s).
  • Participate in a Business Support Community of Practice ensuring best practice and consistent application of initiatives.
  • Lead the coordination of plant metrics and serve as plant focal point for ISO standards.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments as required to help plant management decisions on short term objectives.
  • Bring your knowledge and understanding of business systems and processes to strengthen the overall team.
  • Coordinate weekly and monthly management meetings with detailed 5 why analysis on lagging and leading metrics from all pillars \xe2\x80\x93 safety, production, maintenance, cost, people.
  • Lead, initiate, and identify cost savings against budget. Working closely with Business Analysts, partners, and contract management to create a culture of knowledge on all cost drivers.
About You

Education:
  • Undergraduate or a College Diploma required in Engineering, Finance or Business or a related area.
Experience:
  • 8 years of dynamic proven experience in a supervisory or technical support role.
Skills:
  • Strong background in maintenance, operations, and technical areas.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Takes initiative and is self-directed to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
  • Results focused with strong analytical, data analysis, planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of all Vale systems.
  • Software skills in MS Office products.
