Breathwork Coach
for a
contractor position
to join our team.
Must be available mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Role Overview
At
Cedar & Steam
, our Breathwork Coach plays a key role in integrating breathwork and sound therapy into our wellness services, creating personalized, holistic experiences that promote relaxation and well-being. You will design and lead 1-hour guided group breathwork and sound bath sessions tailored to the sauna environment, ensuring comfort, safety, and maximum benefit for all participants. This role involves collaborating with our team, preparing spaces, and adapting sessions to meet the diverse needs of guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Group Sessions:
Conduct breathwork and/or sound bath sessions in the sauna and plunge pool, adjusting techniques to suit participant levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced).
Design & Deliver Programs:
Develop breathwork routines and sound bath experiences that complement the sauna environment, incorporating warm-ups, techniques, and cooldowns for various group needs. Each 1-hour session will include a 10-minute setup and warm-up, a 30-minute class (breathwork or sound bath), a 5-minute cool down, and a guided plunge in the cold pool.
Monitor Safety & Comfort:
Ensure participants follow proper breathing techniques and maintain physical comfort, intervening when necessary to prevent discomfort or overheating.
Provide Guidance:
Offer clear verbal and physical adjustments to improve posture, breathing, and focus during sessions, including adjusting sound frequencies in sound bath sessions to suit guest needs. Responsible for curating and managing the musical elements of the experience -sourcing and selecting music or creating playlists that align with the energy and flow of the guided sessions
Foster Engagement:
Create a motivating atmosphere to encourage participation and progression, adapting sessions based on guest feedback

Facilitate Transitions:
Guide guests smoothly between sauna and cold plunge, using breathwork and/or sound bath techniques to enhance recovery and promote relaxation. You will also be responsible for assisting with checking guests in and out at the front desk, providing guidance and information as needed to ensure a seamless transition between areas of the spa.
Collaborate with Team:
Work closely with Cedar & Steam team members to integrate breathwork and sound therapy into existing services, ensuring alignment with the company's wellness mission.
Educate Guests:
Explain the benefits of breathwork, sound therapy, and cold exposure, helping guests understand how these practices support physical and mental well-being. Coaches are also expected to guide guests through the energetic experience of the space itself - helping them get grounded, connect with the chakra themes, and feel present and supported in the environment
Ensure Professionalism & Safety:
Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for guests and maintaining high standards in all sessions.
Maintain & Reset Space:
Coaches are responsible for ensuring the sauna and cold plunge areas are properly prepared before each session and reset afterward. This includes setting up the space with intention, maintaining cleanliness, and creating a welcoming, calming environment that supports the overall guest experience.
Qualifications
Education
:
Certification as a Breathwork Coach or Instructor from a recognized institution.
Certification or training in sound therapy or sound bath facilitation.
First Aid and CPR certification.
Experience
:
Additional certifications or training in related wellness practices (e.g., sound therapy, yoga, meditation, Reiki).
Experience with and/or certification in various breathwork modalities, including Pranayama, Wim Hof Method, Buteyko Method, Sudarshan Kriya, Transformational Breath, and Clarity Breathwork, is preferred and encouraged.
Experience in wellness or spa settings.
Experience in customer service, with the ability to build rapport, listen actively, and address guest concerns promptly to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
Experience with Mindbody software is preferred.
Skills & Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of breathwork techniques, sound therapy, sauna safety, and best practices for integrating these practices into wellness settings.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide and motivate participants effectively.
Proficiency in designing and implementing breathwork and sound bath routines.
Passionate about health and wellness, with a focus on continuous personal and team development.
