About the Job:
ESSE Canada is looking for a Bookkeeping to join our steadily growing team. This role plays an essential part of our fast-paced company and requires an unwavering positive attitude, excellent communication skills and consistent attention to detail. This role has three primary functions:
This dynamicrole carries out the management of accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and timely processing. The preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports is also a crucial function in this role. The smooth and efficient cooperation and coordination with all other internal departments is needed in order to ensure the success of our billing department. Consistent, focused and reliable execution of these duties along with a keen eye for attention to detail are critical in this role.
2. Payroll & Benefits Processing
Internal responsibilities include the administration of our existing programs and systems to complete payroll and benefits program processing, including deductions, new enrollments, and compliance with Ontario's Employment Standards Act (ESA) is also required. These tasks include the completion of weekly and monthly internal reports and processes, open and proactive communication and forecasting, and a strong ability to anticipate cashflow and departmental needs.
3. Financial Reporting & Forecasting Analysis
The preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial reports is required to support informed decision-making of ownership and management. The development and consistent maintenance of forecasting models to project revenues, expenditures, and cash flow is also required. The monitoring of financial performance against budgets and prior periods, identifying trends, variances, and potential risks or opportunities are also expected as a part of this role's functional duties. The successful candidate for this role will ensure accuracy, consistency of all duties completed and that timeliness of all financial data and reports are in compliance with organizational policies and applicable accounting standards.
Required Professional Skills:
Financial Expertise:
5+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in a small business or service-based industry. Proficiency in bookkeeping software (QuickBooks) and payroll systems. Knowledge of Ontario financial regulations (e.g., HST filings, CRA compliance).
Analytical Skills:
Strong ability to analyze financial data, reconcile accounts, and generate accurate reports. Experience with cash flow forecasting is an asset.
Interpersonal Skills:
Clear communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and department managers. Ability to train support staff on financial processes.
Integrity:
Demonstrated trustworthiness and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial data.
Education:
Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA designation or equivalent is an asset but not required.
