The Vancouver Basketball Foundation(TM) is a non-profit, community-first organization situated in the heart of Vancouver's Grandview-Woodlands community providing unique opportunities to connect with hard-to-reach and at-risk youth and young adults. We strive to reduce barriers, increase opportunities and address holistic development in the lives of our participants through sport and play through our cost-free interconnected programs, camps, leagues and events.
Position Overview
The Vancouver Basketball Foundation(TM) is looking for energetic, reliable Coaches to lead youth programming in our summer camps and community events. This role is ideal for someone passionate about working with youth, who enjoys collaborating with others and is eager to create inclusive, impactful experiences through sport. As a Coach, you will lead engaging programs and help create a safe, supportive environment where participants can grow through sport, mentorship, and fun!
Key Responsibilities
Support the planning and delivery of summer camps, programs, and events
Create and lead practice sessions focused on skill development, teamwork, and game-based activities
Build a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants
Manage daily program logistics, including equipment setup and takedown
Maintain accurate attendance and complete daily/weekly reports as required
Actively ensure all program operations meet required safety protocols and organizational guidelines
Serve as an ambassador for The Vancouver Basketball Foundation(TM)
Collaborate with the Leadership Team to meet daily goals and timelines
Assist with other program-related duties as assigned
Preferred Experience & Skills
Previous coaching experience is considered an asset
Basketball experience (playing or coaching) is a bonus
Experience facilitating youth programs in camps, schools, or similar structured settings
Excellent communication and group management skills
Strong adaptability and problem-solving abilities in dynamic environments
Positive, team-oriented attitude with a commitment to creating inclusive spaces
Eligibility Requirements
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to complete prior to start date)
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
This role is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, applicants must:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada
