Overview:BartenderLocation: CalgaryBartenders are the engine of the Front of House, they carefully mix up cocktails and pour drinks for all of our Guests. They are responsible for ensuring that our most important people, our Guests, have an excellent Boston Pizza experience from start to finish. Responsibilities:What does a successful Bartender look like?
  • Maintains composure and thrives in a high pressure and fast pace environment
  • Builds relationships with regulars at the bar by getting to know their names or chatting about sports.
  • Knows how to mix up all drinks to Boston Pizza standards
  • Committed to championing the "Foundations of Hospitality," Boston Pizza\'s Brand Standards and Food Safety
  • Effectively communicates with the Front of House team to keep drink service moving quickly
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greet guests at the bar, inform them of promotions or drink specials, and take orders.
  • Prepare and serve beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, in compliance with company recipes and specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to Boston Pizza\xe2\x80\x99s product knowledge, menu updates, and promotions.
  • Monitor guest intoxication levels and refuse service if necessary, ensuring a safe and responsible environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including washing and storing glassware, cleaning surfaces, and ensuring that all supplies are in their designated places.
  • Handle all bar inventory, including monitoring, replenishing, and organizing stock items like liquor, mixers, and glassware.
  • Complete daily and weekly bar maintenance checklists, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Adhere to food and beverage safety standards, completing all necessary safety checklists.
  • Complete bar transactions, handle cash, and manage a balanced cashier float.
  • Engage with guests, providing exceptional service and addressing any special requests or issues.
  • Follow Boston Pizza policies and procedures, including Confidentiality, Conditions of Employment, and Respectful Workplace.
  • Assist servers and other staff as needed, fostering teamwork to meet service standards.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive demeanor throughout shifts.
QualificationsEducation:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., ProServe in Alberta)
Experience:
  • Previous bartending experience is an asset but not required; training will be provided.
  • Familiarity with a bar environment and basic drink preparation is advantageous.
  • If a bartender is not hired internally, the new hire must complete this training within the first year of employment
Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic bartending and beverage mixing
  • Strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable attitude
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Basic math skills for handling payments and calculating tips
Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced environment, with extended periods of standing and physical activity
  • Exposure to loud noise, varying temperatures, and potentially slippery surfaces
  • Frequent lifting of bar supplies (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Handling hazardous materials, including cleaning chemicals and sharp tools (e.g., broken glass)
  • May require the use of a step ladder for stocking purposes
Physical Requirements
  • Standing for extended periods, up to 8 hours
  • Lifting heavy items for bar restocking and organization
  • Performing repetitive tasks, such as pouring drinks and cleaning bar areas
  • Maintaining a high level of alertness to ensure the safety of yourself, co-workers, and guests at all times and good hygiene
