We use quality ingredients (local where possible) and do our best to bring interesting and delightful treats to our community. Along with our baked goods, we offer single-origin espresso beverages and that\'s where you come in! This is a permanent, part-time position (avg. 15-20 hours/week). This position is not temporary or casual. Our retail hours are Wednesdays (10am-3pm), Thursday and Fridays (9am to 5pm), Saturdays (9am to 6pm), and Sundays (11am-4pm). The ideal candidate will be available for all of these hours (with half an hour on either side of opening/closing). We have a small team of energetic, hard-working, fun-loving people who can\'t wait to welcome another team member! Job description This position reports to the owner(s)/manager(s) and has direct responsibility of ensuring all beverages crafted and service provided are performed with attention to the highest
standards of excellence and implementing best practices set forth by the owner(s) as
well as other duties, which include but are not limited to:

• Accurately grinding beans, pulling shots of espresso, brewing tea, and preparing other beverages according to brew recipes provided
• Calibrating the espresso grinder as needed (and knowing when to do that)
• Welcoming customers, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments
• Scooping and baking cookie doughs
• Assembling and packaging food and beverages for sale
• Cleaning and restocking work areas, emptying the garbage and compost, and cleaning and sanitizing equipment and utensils
• Learning about brewing methods, beverage recipes, and presentation techniques to improve food quality
• Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases and behind the counter
• Working as a part of a fun, high-energy team
• Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls
• Maintaining an effective \xe2\x80\x93 positive, amicable, upbeat and \xe2\x80\x9csmile first\xe2\x80\x9d -- customer service orientation

Requirements

• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent organizational, time-management, interpersonal and analytical skills
• Clear and effective communication style, both written and oral.
• Good judgment and decision-making abilities while communicating with customers and team members
• Ability to learn manual and automated systems/tools
• Skilled at working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining priorities and a high level of performance
• Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods of time

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Experience (at least 6 months) on a semi-automatic espresso machine with traditional milk foaming skill is required. (Tim Hortons or experience with a super automatic machine is not sufficient).
• Experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service is required
• Food Handler Certificate is preferred
