CITZ also provides support for the expansion of high-speed internet connectivity throughout the province, leadership across government to modernize information management and technology resources, trusted data services to government agencies, prompt and relevant responses to freedom of information requests, and statistical and economic research, information and analysis to businesses and the public sector. In addition, the ministry manages the Province\'s real estate assets, technology systems and equipment, and leverages procurement to increase business opportunities and create rewarding jobs that contribute to local economies and benefit individuals, families, and communities. Connecting Heiltsuk The primary purpose of the Senior Director, Connectivity Initiatives is to provide leadership support to connectivity programs that bridge the digital divide within British Columbia. The position supports a team that applies technical expertise to assess connectivity projects and support the program objectives and decision-making of the division. The Senior Director, working within the Network BC team, maximizes opportunities to explore, understand, and illuminate technical opportunities related to voice, broadband and cellular networks, and how emerging technologies can be incorporated. The Senior Director possesses a thorough understanding of corporate vision and strategy, leadership skills including business implications of decisions related to telecommunications service delivery.

Job Requirements: Education:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree (or higher) in telecommunications, engineering, computer science, law or relevant area of study.
Experience:
Recent, related experience must include all of the following:
  • Telecommunication industry experience (e.g. regulatory work, requirements gathering, network architecture, and systems engineering for voice, broadband, cellular and/or LAN/WLAN/WAN services).
  • Experience with business case analysis and planning relating to network deployments to meet specific needs \xe2\x80\x93 e.g. for voice, broadband, cellular and/or LAN/WLAN/WAN data services.
  • Experience working with a variety of telecommunications equipment vendors.
  • Experience in a role that requires the business implications of decisions related to telecommunications service delivery to be examined.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and consultation.
Preference may be given to candidates with one (1) or more of the following:
  • Formal training or certification in:
    (A) computing & information technologies; and/or,
    (B) advanced analytics; and/or,
    (C) project management.
  • Experience in the context of multi-party projects that require building trust with multiple and diverse stakeholders and managing influence.
  • One (1) or more years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the related experience requirements.

This position is located in Victoria; however, Burnaby, Campbell River, Comox, Courtenay, Coquitlam, Cranbrook, Fort Nelson, Fort St. John, Kamloops, Kelowna, Langley, Maple Ridge, Nanaimo, Nelson, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Penticton, Port Alberni, Powell River, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Prince George, Richmond, Salmon Arm, Smithers, Surrey, Vancouver, West Vancouver, Vernon may also be considered subject to Ministry operational requirements.
