TD Asset Management (TDAM), a member of TD Bank Financial Group, is a leading North American investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and individual investors. In attaining this client commitment, TDAM has built one of Canada\'s largest and most respected investment management and research teams with more than 220 Portfolio Managers, Associate Portfolio Managers, Traders and Analysts.

We are currently recruiting for an Associate to join the Portfolio and Fund Management ("PFM") Team within Alternative Investments at TD Asset Management ("TDAM"). This is an opportunity to build a career within an Alternatives business with over $30 billion in assets under management ("AUM") and a growing private infrastructure fund with over $2 billion in AUM. The Associate will be primarily responsible for the valuation process for infrastructure investments, and will be required to assist in the delivery, review and analysis of third party valuations for the TD Greystone Infrastructure Fund. The PFM team, specifically within Alternative Investments has overall accountability and oversight for the quarterly valuation for all illiquid and private investments at TDAM Alternatives. The PFM team oversees independent quarterly valuations for the following asset classes: Infrastructure, Canadian Real Estate, Global Real Estate, and Mortgages.

The Associate will be accountable for facilitating and reviewing quarterly third party valuations, as well as the analysis of the valuations and reporting to senior management and other members of the Alternatives Investment Team and TDAM at large. The Associate will work on enhancing the valuation processes, framework, and seek opportunities to increase team efficiencies. The role will require close collaboration across teams that include Investment Departments, Operations, Regulatory & Policy Governance among others to support ongoing deliverables as well as strategic initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • Professional designation or working towards one such as the CPA, CFA, CBV, CAIA or similar.
  • Approximately 2 to 4 years of relevant private asset class valuation experience
  • Infrastructure experience is an asset
  • A strong passion and interest in working with technology to incorporate into the valuation process
  • Solid understanding of how the private assets world works
  • Excellent research, financial modelling, analytical and valuation skills
  • Team player with ability to deliver in a high-performance culture operating under time-sensitive deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree of professionalism and ability to present ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Willingness to actively contribute to a positive and highly effective and collaborative team culture
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships across the organization
  • Working experience with business intelligence tools is an asset (e.g., Tableau, etc.)

- Facilitating and reviewing quarterly valuations for existing and new private assets, with a focus on infrastructure
  • Provide insightful valuation analysis to identify material quarterly valuation movements
  • Build complex dynamic financial models to value investments, challenge assumptions and test sensitivities, both at an asset level and by portfolio
  • Stratify and analyze large data sets to identify historical performance trends, detect correlations, identify key value drivers and perform calibration
  • Prepare detailed valuation analysis and highlights for inclusion in Valuation Committee, Audit Committee and other reporting
  • Monitor global market events (e.g. Brexit, tax reforms, natural disasters, Covid-19 pandemic and quickly design valuation sensitivities and tests to assess the impact on the portfolio on a macro-basis)
  • Work closely with investment professionals across all asset classes to execute on the quarterly valuation process and onboard new deals as well as cross functionally with other departments to ensure alignment with our vision, goals and values
  • Support and Contribute to Alternatives Investment and PFM team initiatives and deliverables as required
